Make Willie Geist, Tamron Hall's fave mashed potato recipes for Thanksgiving
Wed Nov 19, 2014
Cook potatoes with a packet or two of Lipton Onion Soup Mix (depending on number of potatoes), then drain. Add your favorite ingredients to the potatoes. I use sour cream or buttermilk, butter, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper all to taste.
'Happily united' in separate rooms: Why my husband and I sleep apart
Thu Nov 13, 2014
My husband just retired from teaching, but I still teach. We're finding ourselves in the same boat. I am the snorer (I'd never admit that out loud and my husband can snore, too), but I get up early, and now he does not. He moves to the spare bedroom (a) when my snoring wakes him up and he is unable …
Kelly Ripa doesn't care if her kids like her: 'I'm not your friend'
Fri Nov 7, 2014
The saying, "Familiarity breeds contempt," is as true in parenting as it is in other aspects of life. I am not a parent, but I see it as teacher of 8th graders. I can almost always tell by students' behavior and conversations with parents what the child/parent relationship is at home. The child who …
Donald Trump reveals new 'Apprentice' cast, talks Joan Rivers' role on show
Mon Nov 3, 2014
I never watch the show, BUT it might be worth it to Kate have a meltdown - i.e. DWTS and Sarah Palin in Alaska (don't remember the name of the show). Without a doubt on both those shows, Kate was the most selfish, self-absorbed human being ever. Needless to say, I won't watch.
Judge orders Bethenny Frankel not to wear daughter's pajamas: 'It's not a joke'
Fri Oct 3, 2014
Sad that we live in a world where the public at large make stars out of people who do what? Who contribute what? What redeeming value do these shows [reality shows]? She's egotistical and narcissistic at best.
'We've been in his shoes': Couple leaves $100 tip for bad service to thank overwhelmed waiter

In reply to: @GabrielHagstrom #2 I'd rather see 100 stories like this than the over-kill stories of celebrity weddings, lives, births, deaths, funerals, etc.
'Don't give up!' 5 lessons we learned from Joel Osteen about being successful
Mon Sep 29, 2014
Successful as a motivational speaker, perhaps. Preaching the Bible, absolutely NOT. The Bible speaks to false preachers and teachers and it's not good. Olsteen ought to READ the Bible that he doesn't preach about.
Still 'Lost'? 10 years after series premiere, mysteries remain
Mon Sep 22, 2014
The first year was AMAZING! The second year - not so amazing. I watched a few shows in the third season and had enough. It become so confusing and convoluted. I quit watching. No regrets!
Adrian Peterson case stirs debate: Parents fine with spanking, say it worked for them
Fri Sep 19, 2014
I'm not sure that some people understand the difference between spanking and beating. My sisters and I were spanked; never were we bruised, or welts left; any marks period. We KNEW, though, if we misbehaved, what was waiting for us and THAT made the difference! We were not spanked often. Unfortunate …
Social media boundaries: Should teachers and students be 'friends'?
Thu Sep 18, 2014
I teach middle school and will not be "friends" with any students in any social media. When students ask, I tell them they can request only after they've graduated from high school. That's a pandora's box that does not need to be opened. My district, from what I understand, has a policy in pla …
